Schiefes Haus (crooked house)

Schiefes Haus

Built in 1725. Four-storey house, comparatively high house with two gable lucarnes (formerly both with cambered gables). Its accented vertical proportions remember north-hessian merchants' houses and craftsmen's houses. In the past there was a passage in the ground floor (lintel of segmental arch preserved).

Radical changes of the facade in the 18th century, at which, due to the loss of the diagonal bracings (because of building larger and higher rooms), the whole arrangement of the framework was dislocated.

Originally plastered (constructional) timberwork construction, first uncovering after World War I by former owner "Familie Nau, Stahlwaren" . Wrong date in cartouche.
