German "Fachwerkstrasse"

The German Road of Half-timbered Architecture, founded in 1990, runs meanwhile from the river Elbe to the Lake Constance through six federal states (Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Hesse, Thuringia, Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg) and is divided into nine regional routes.

In the meantime, more than 100 framework towns have joined up under the slogan "Framework unites" in order to coordinate their marketing. The German Road of Half-timbered Architecture does not only join unique landscapes, historic sites and carefully restored monuments but above all links the people who live and work here.

Idstein belongs to the regional route "From the Lahn Valley to the Rheingau Region". This tour will take you from the Lahn Mountains and the banks of the river Dill to the quaint towns near the river Lahn and further into the wine growing regions along the rivers Main and Rhine.
